Welcome to PCSM's website!
The Pennsylvania Council of Supervisors of Mathematics (PCSM) is a professional organization for Pennsylvania’s leaders in mathematics education.
PCSM members represent all levels of mathematics leaders, from preschool through college. They include persons who are supervisors, coordinators, directors, department chairs, coaches, administrators, professors, instructors of pre-service and in-service teachers, consultants, and others who by position or by influence have assumed leadership roles in mathematics education .
The purpose of the Pennsylvania Council of Supervisors of Mathematics shall be:
- To provide for the interchange of evolving ideas and current research for mathematics education
- To cooperate with other organizations in the improvement of instruction, and in curriculum planning in mathematics
- To maintain a continuing program which will provide for analysis of problems pertaining to all aspects of mathematics education and to develop proposals of possible solutions to such problems
- To offer leadership to all who are concerned with mathematics education in the state.
As a local affiliate of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), our goal is to increase student achievement in mathematics by supporting leaders in their professional endeavors and to help them become agents of change in mathematics education.
